LTC Pharmacist

We are currently seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join a Long-Term Care pharmacy in the Des Moines metro area on a 68 week contract basis. This role has been created to provide consistent support to pharmacy operations during a transitional period, as the facility actively searches for a new Pharmacist in Charge. Please note, this is not a PIC role.

This opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with a solid foundation in LTC pharmacy who is looking to step into a collaborative environment and maintain continuity of care for patients.

Position Details:

• Location: Urbandale, IA (Des Moines area)

• Duration: 68 weeks, or until a new Pharmacist in Charge is onboarded

• Schedule: Monday to Friday | 9:00 AM 5:30 PM

• Start Date: ASAP

Primary Responsibilities:

• Verify the accuracy, safety, and appropriateness of prescriptions prior to dispensing

• Conduct regular cycle checks to ensure medication inventory is accurate and up to date

• Collaborate with pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain smooth daily operations

• Uphold compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as internal quality standards

• Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and USP-compliant pharmacy work environment

Candidate Requirements:

• Active Iowa Pharmacist License (in good standing)

• Minimum 1 year of recent pharmacist experience

• Long-Term Care pharmacy experience preferred, but not required

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills

• Must be local to the area and able to start immediately
